Mod 29 44 mag ??

A Buddy just bought one from another friend serial BAR4219 he has no idea year or anything has recessed cylinder and t.h. and t.t. pinned barrel. no box or real deal grips. what year anybody to help?Mod 29 44 magnum. And i know its not the Dirty Harry year 1971

I have Been gone for awhile with the Big C stuff And other matters... Always a fun trip, ya get to fight everyday... anyways he is not a member and i told him. i would get the info. have to help the guy his Dad played with Sinatra. And he was a member of the Glenn Miller orchestra, So big bands and cool 40's tunes was his game.And he always wanted a Smith 44, thanks in advance RON K.

A Model 29 with a BAR prefix is a 1989 gun and does not have a pinned barrel or recessed cylinder.

He said picked it up at the shop from my buddy who shipped it and says recessed cyl with barrel.I will have him take a picture of it and number came from the crane area Maybe these two guys are lost in limbo.but 89 makes sense but he thinks he bought it in 1982.two old guys what can i say.Will wait for pictures. He paid him $700 bucks so i guess he did okay. thanks for the responses guys. if i get pics will post them here. RON K.

$700 for any Model 29 in good condition is a good deal these days.

He did more than ok. Depending on barrel length, finish, condition, dash number, etc. he may have gotten a steal.

I had seen gun a few weeks ago before he shipped it 99.9 cond no clylinder drag. and Really nice mirror blue. and tight. only the original grips went after all the years and the box and papers he had some cali custom rainbow finger wood grips on it real nice Just like factory better.Since my other buddy in Miami was looking for one i passed him the deal.And it all worked out. Now the buyer is trying to figure the year and looking for original grips, Which i told him be happy if it had the box and papers and original Grips on it when i saw it he never would have gotten it in Miami. ha ha however he has a Talo Ed. 0ne of 400 Colt royal blue Commander new in box he is selling now. So i have my eyes on that one. And giving me the same price he paid for it ten years ago seemed fair.Just to decide do i want another safe king.

oh the barrel is 6 he also has a 4 for sale blue. but it has been shot well over a few hundred rounds.

There are some 29-3s with pinned barrels, some with recessed charge holes. More commonly called "transitionals."

Never seen a -3 with both though...that's a -2.

This works with the 1982 date mentioned above, but not the serial number.

Yeah i guess he said this am after a good look no pinned barrel Yikes..He has the gun in hand i don't i said take it apart and check it all out.

Just a normal 80's Mod 29-3 with at least two or three of the good things now. But for the Price why worry about anything. He is going to shoot heck out of it anyhow and play Dirty Harry with it for awhile anyhow. Just can't go back to Frisco tho, too many Turds and needles around. Just think of that movie parody today it would make Harry getting stuck Eating a hot dog, and seeing a **** in front of the restaurant and Homeless in front of the bank sleeping in tents.

Did i step on one needle or five. And in all this excitement did i step on one **** or two.The future some have to look forward to.

I have never seen a 29-3 with either P or R. Seen some late 29-2s missing the P as barrels ran out and they started throwing on unpinned -3 tubes.
