As mentioned in earlier thread, I will be acquiring my first Mod 41. This Mod 41 was manufactured in 1971. Will current magazines fit this handgun?

Yes. There have been no major changes in the magazines over the years. Some minor differences in the follower and floorplate. You will find both 10 and 12 round mags available and either will work fine. I got my best deal from CDNN. I heard that Midway USA now has them back in stock. The most expensive are from Rimfire Sports. You should plan on paying a regular, non sale, price of about $25 each. Mags for the 41-1 are for .22 shorts only and can't be used (if you can even find them).

Thanks.

Any problem shooting high velocity out of a 41?

Reliability and accuracy of high velocity out of a 41 will be just fine. HOWEVER this is a fine target pistol designed for standard velocity ammunition and if you shoot HV you will batter the gun and it will lose it's fine fit and tolerances and overwork the recoil spring. Most 41 owners stick to standard velocity ammo only and while there are many brands of SV that will work well the gold standard is CCI Standard Velocity. Be kind to your new pistol and treat it well.

+ 1 for standard vel, with the added point that you will see very little increase in vel out of the short barrel with faster ammunition anyway.
