41s will run on most all ammo, but better on some than others. Just try different types. No need to restrict it to standard velocity. But 41s seem to be rather sensitive to some manufacturer variations in case dimensions in the head area, and there is a characteristic type of ejection jam on some guns. It's fixable.
Some manufacturers are using reclaimed mongrel brass of unknown alloy, which is too hard. This can cause all sorts of misfire problems, which are no fault of the older guns, designed to be fired with good .22 ammo made long ago.
I have an early 41 with long barrel and comp, indicator pin, extra short heavy barrel, extra mags, and full set of weights. Have owned and shot it since 1970.
Because 41s are known to be temperamental with some makes of ammo, I've wound and tempered about 8 - 10 different recoil springs, using slightly different diameters of music wire, coil spacing, and overall length. If it doesn't run right with one ammo brand, I try a different spring. One of them is guaranteed to work.
The accuracy of these 41s is fearsome. They make bad ammo shoot like good ammo, as long as you have some with priming compound all the way around the inside of the rim. Forget Remington. You're going to love your 41, Sandygun.
