I have been allocating some funds to buy a 44.
I have heard/read/told that 10 were made and 6 exist in the free market. If anyone hears of one for sale, pls PM me.
I mean how expensive could it be? They probably retailed for $69.95! Wink.

I've never even seen a picture of one other than the weird Gun Digest cover.

Did I miss something in the SCSW? I can't seem to locate that model.

The S&W 9mm double action semiautomatic was later named the model 39. The single action variant of which 10 were made for Army testing was named the model 44.

Oh, you are gonna buy a S&W Model 44, eh? Say, when you find it at the particular fantastic gun store, please have them hold that S&W K-frame .30 Carbine revolver that is in the case right next to the Model 44, would ya? :D

Hey Sevens, I remember that .30 carbine revolver. Every once in a while some oddities were passed around the fitting room for everyone to look at. One impressive gun was a 44 mag presented to Ronald Reagan.

Hello Sevens, that is a deal. In fact I will go one better. I will buy the 30 Carbine and send it to you for purchase. Naturally I will double the price so as to cover the cost of the mod. 44. OK buddy, good deal all around. Best, Mike
