Have a lead on a NIB or close to it. I went and looked at it a few weeks ago, but they would only drop the price $25.00. I was slightly offended by this reduction as I paid $35.00 just for the chance to look at it in person. Anyway, I walked, but I noticed that it was still available as of today.

Box, tools and paperwork were all there. Had Magnas and std trigger and hammer. SN put it at early 80's make. Pinned 4" barrel.

Price was $625 + Tax with the "discount". Did I do good by walking?

I haven't shopped M48's for a while, but that price can't be too far off for NIB.

Who is charging $35.00 just to look at a gun that is not rare or restricted? That's nutz! Guess I should have been charging for all the jerks that wasted my time looking at my stuff all these years and had not yet "cleared" a purchase with Momma at home. I think the price is more then reasonable if it is as stated. Kyle

For a NIB Mod 48 the pricing is fairly close. I purchased one from a fellow forum member about a year ago for about $50 less. I thought I got a good deal at the time.

Hmm, well I still think I'm going to pass, as I really don't have the desire to shoot a nib gun that someone else would find more value in as nib. If anyone is interested the gun is at the cabelas in Gonzales la. Happy shopping. Thanks for the advice.

Model 48 is very loud and expensive to shoot - get a 17 or 18 and be happy

Without hearing protection, I am not aware of any firearms that are quiet. A loud gun comment falls into the *** category. Huh? what did you say?

Why on earth would you have to pay $35 just to look at a gun you might purchase? I think if someone told me that I'd pass on general principals.

I suspect he had it shipped in from another Cabela's store, the charge to do that is $35 as they are sent overnight air. Good thing is you are not obligated to buy it and no return shipping charges.

I am guessing you hit it right on the head. Cabelas just opened the first and only store in Colorado here on the western slope (Grand Junction). I have talked to the staff there on several occasions and they explained that they will ship any gun from any of there stores from the 'Gun Library' to any store for a fee if you are seriously interested in the gun. No obligation to buy, but understandably they must charge something, or everyone would request it for the fun of it.

As for the model 48, it is a wonderful gun. Yes, it is more costly to shoot, but they are extremely accurate, have a barrel designed for the magnum, not the 22 long rifle, and even at handgun barrel lengths (mine is a 6 inch) they seriously out perform even 22 long rifle ballistics in 22 rifles. I happen to have a fitted 22 lr barrel and crane from the factory with mine, but use my 17's for that purpose. My suggestion, get it while you can. I would prefer a six inch, but that is just my preference.

John - I agree totally with your comment but I've always wondered why Cabela's didn't use Priority Mail since it is a dealer to dealer move?
It ought to be cheaper than overnight - just my $0.02!
