Hey all- looking at a 57 no dash 4", full package with wooden display case. Looks to be in extremely nice condition (seller says 50 rounds through the gun) in Nickel. Is Nickel worth more or less than blue in today's market? Asking a grand, hoping to shave a little off that. Looks to be 3 T's as well.

P.S. I have a nickel 58 that would be it's stable mate.

I think a Grand would be a very good price for what you describe,.

My general rule is that a gun in nickel is worth a 10% premium (Smith isn’t doing that wonderful nickel finish anymore) over blue.

I sold a 6 inch nickel one without the presentation case for $1000 five years ago. I'd say the package as described is a great deal in today's market at that price. I won't pay a premium for nickel, some will. Good luck, and pictures when you get it please.

If it is a factory nickel finish, then 10-15% over the value of a blued finish.

I agree with the premium for nickel. I also think that you should jump on that deal...$1K is a steal for a 4" nickel Model 57 with case & goodies. I paid $1200 for just the revolver (ca. 1980) a couple of years ago and was happy to get it. It was mint, and I already had a presentation case from a blued 4" Model 57 that was stolen from me during a burglary. Go buy it and enjoy!

Well we agreed on the price, now just have to wait for the seller to get home from a family emergency to complete the deal. No pics until the bird is in hand, don't want to jinx it.

You did well on the price; 4" barrel is very desirable, nickel does bring a premium over blued (but either is nice) and you got the presentation case. All M57's are 3-T. I gave more than that for my 6" blued M57 and didn't get the box or even the original factory stocks. Mine is an "S" prefix, though. SN is 1969 production, shipped mid-June of 1970. Do you know how old yours is? Having a nickel M58 to pair with it is nice; I have a blued M58 to go with mine.

If you are taking the time to read this before making a decision, chances are it is already gone. You should jump on that with both feet.

Adios,
