mod 60 question?

Pinned refers to a pin that is inserted through the upper part of the frame to secure the barrel. The pin isn't really required, but S&W folks usually prefer these as opposed to non-pinned guns. It shows that S&W put a little more into the gun in years gone by.
Dash refers to the model number. A M60 is the first version. A M60-1 is the second version, a M60-2 is the third version, etc. These "dashes" usually refer to engineering changes.

Welcome to the forum. The M-60 is an excellent revolver, I bought my first and only M-60 in 1975 and carried it daily as my BUG for 27 years. Still have it, when I can get away from the "Lovely and Charming" it fits in my back pocket for a quick run to the shop and rob, or whatever.
As mine is a last ditch weapon I load it with +p ammo, but I would not Recommend shooting lots of +p ammo through it.
