model 10-3

Can someone give me an idea of the time frame of this gun?

The dash 3 was introduced in 1961. It had the heavy barrel and still had four frame screws. The 10-3 was introduced to inaugurate the left hand threads on the extractor rod. After approximately a year of production, it was replaced with the Model 10-6, which had a three-screw frame.

Serial numbers are bit jumbled up during this period, but knowing the serial number should be interesting. Please post it if you can.

Not Jack here…but that serial number puts its age at sometime in the early-mid 1980s. Is this the information stamped on the flat bottom of the grip frame? If so it may be a model 10-8 with the 8 partially stamped.

It has the heavy barrel, I think it's a 10-3.

It decidedly is not a Model 10-3 if the serial number is ACR5107. Three-alpha serial numbers were not used on the Model 10 until 1983. ACR is from either 1983 or 1984. The Model 10-8 also had the heavy barrel.

My 10-3 is a “C” Prefix S/N C 572775. Shipped November 06, 1962, to Arthur Cook Corp. Laurel, MD.

Thanks Guys. After getting my magnifier out I found the 10-8 on the crane cut out where it should be, my bad. the ACR5107 on the butt is correct.
