Model 10-5 pencil barrel date of manufacture.

Could any of you well informed people please tell me the date of manufacture of my recently purchased model 10-5 with serial number D50966? Thank you in advance. This is a particularly interesting revolver to me since some sort of law enforcement agency ID number is engraved into the bottom of the trigger guard and it is the first thin barrel model 10 I have owned. Thank you in advance.

It is a 1968 production gun and almost certainly shipped that year. The engraved ID may be an inventory or evidence number if the gun was involved in a legal case; both are commonly seen.

Be sure to use "standard" or "tapered barrel" or the Forum purists will be after you . Enjoy!
