I bought a skinny barrel model 10-7 off gunbroker and the seller didn't notice that the tip of the hammer spur had been broken off. I didn't see it either until I started cleaning up the gun. My question is will a hammer from a 10-5 fit the 10-7 gun? There are several 10-5 hammers listed on Ebay for around $25 or $30 dollars and one 10-7 hammer for a whopping $70. If a 10-5 will fit I will just buy one of those.
I did remove the hammer and used a grinder and ground the back of the hammer spur to a nice radius and its usable but just a little harder to cock with the shorter spur. So I do want to repair the gun. And I really like the taper barrel model 10s. This one is a little rough. It looks like it spent its life in a leather holster under a truck seat. It has some light pitting on the top strap and cylinder. Its not perfect but fine for a field use gun that you are not afraid of getting damaged.
Thanks in advance.
