Model 10-7

The local gun shop has a Model 10 in fair shape, a little holster wears on the muzzle and a slight speck of discoloration on a very small part of the cylinder, most likely from improper storage. Lock up is tight, and wood is beautiful. It has the 2 1/2 inch barrel. What would a good deal be on it?

I have a 3" M10-7 I bought some years back for about $250 shipped, etc. I think someone has had them recently advertised on the internet for about that price.

So I would hazard a guess that if the price is under $300, it is probably a decent enough deal. Less would be better.

I have been looking at a model 10-7 on Cabela's Gun Library. It looks in fine shape but I am curious as it is stamped "C&E 1649" on the backstrap. Does anyone have any ideas on what that could mean? I Googled C&E and C&E Railroad Police. Came up with a C&E shortline railroad defunct in 1956. Thanks for any help and God Bless.

The "C&E" stands for Customs and Excise. Hong Kong I believe. I have one stamped the same way. Looks brand new.

2.5" barrels seem rare. 2" and 3" seem much more common. Not sure if that would do anything for price or not.

I thought that the described condition may drag the price down a bit. I did not know that the 2.5" barrel is more scarce than the shorter barrels. I still like my estimate, at least for my area.
