Finally got mine back from the 'smith... still need the front locking bolt. I'm hoping it will ship this week...
Finally got all my parts in, so I took the snubbie M10 out and got it dirty today.
It shoots well, though the action isn't anything to write home about. POI is a little low with the white box 130gr FMJ. Should be right on the money with 158gr ammo.
Now that I know it goes bang reliably, it's time to dig into the action. And I'll probably start looking for a barrel for number 2...

I have one of these barrel less frames and nee some guidance on which k frame barrels will fit this frame. I like the 2" barrel but I cannot determine if another model will fit this frame. I am new to the Smith and Wesson revolver following and need to learn more. This will be a knock about gun so matching colors will not matter. I also need to source the extractor star as the one I have has a low spot on one cylinder. I appreciate and advise and help. Thank you in advance.

Any K-frame threaded barrel should physically screw on, "pinned" or not. The profiles of the barrels are different between light and heavy, and fixed or adjustable sight guns. AFAIK, all of these J&G guns will best match the 2", heavy, fixed sight profiles.
For anything other than a 2", you will also need the longer ejector rod and associated parts.

I would love to do one of these but it appears every 2" K frame barrel has been scrubbed from the internet

I ended up selling my first one above, and am now working on #2. Picked up a 4" barrel for under $40 shipped off eBay, and got the longer ejector rod parts from Gun Parts.
Plan is to shorten to 3", probably slab side the barrel, new front sight and reblue. Will talk to the local 'smith shop after the Holidays.

I'm anxious to see the new conversion. The price on the frames at J&G have gone up $30 from when I bought mine. I'm still debating on getting another one while they are still available. Still not a bad price in these times.
My original intent was to keep the 1st one, but I lucked into a 3" 65, so sold it to cover part of that. I ended up making a little on the 2" 10, even though that wasn't my original intent. In the current market, they're still a pretty good deal, IMHO.

Mine is doing good. I picked up a 13-2 parts kit so I would like another to convert to 357. Actually 2 more would be good because I'd like to have a 2" too

a smolt 357 with adjustable sights

You have performed a service that all of us can respect and admire. The world can't have enough revolvers, and re-purposing these frames is a good way to go about it. Now comes the whammy! I'd have to get them re-blued. It's the way I am. Not a fan of "character."

P.S. If I understand correctly, 2" barreled revolvers returning to the U.S. must have their bbls removed? As though they were any more unworthy than a 3" or 4" model. Perhaps now one can see why I collect snubs after dealing with such insanity in the 1970s. Happy Holidays all. Be safe.
