Model 10 revolvers at Classic and AIM

Welcome to the forum tinythief. Keep an eye on the Accessories section in the classifieds on this forum. Grips come up quite often.

The guy who bought one which I posted above had worse blue, and the grips were about as bad. He did a range report yesterday, and it shoots fine...quite accurate.

My tapered barrel came in from AIM. It's a 10-7. It seems mechanically excellent. The finish is better than I expected from the pictures on AIM's site and posted above. The grips are horrible, much worse than those shown above. I'll replace them with some originals and might get a Tyler T-grip.

My girlfriend got her 10-8 from Classic. The condition is worn with dings and some worn finish but I would say it's rated as good condition. This was with the hand select option. I did notice one possible issue. When squeezing the trigger while dry firing in DA mode, everything works normally. However, if I slowly start bringing the trigger back it will "click" before the trigger fully goes forward. At that point if I squeeze the trigger again, rather than allowing it to go all the way forward, the cylinder will rotate and the hammer will only slightly move. I have a Model 64 police trade in and it doesn't do that.

tinythief, that one you got looks a lot better than expected from the descriptions. With a little elbow grease the metal should clean up nicely. While having the factory original grips is highly valued by some, on a carry gun/casual shooter, I for one don't worry as much about them. Get a good, comfortable set that fits you (aftermarket, of course) and enjoy shooting the heck out of it. I like smooth combats on a 4" K-frame personally, and got some from Thailand (via e-Bay) several years ago that fit me like they were made for me. Your hand and gripping style will determine what will be best for you.

Ignoring the noise about the grips, IMHO you got a good deal on that Mod 10. I hope you will enjoy it, and will stop back here again soon. You take good pictures and we love good pictures! ;)

I bought a 10-6 with "bull" barrel privately about 2 years ago, finish is full of dings and scratches with wear at the muzzle but for $200 I got it. She looks like hell but shoots great, action is like butter. My 16 y/o and I went to the range yesterday, he was ringing plates almost every round.

I keep thinking about having it cera or duracoated, but in a perverse way I kinda like it the way it is. Every mark represents some episode in the history of this gun, and is a reminder of it's journey through life.

In the meantime, I'm a proud Dad, kid can shoot!!

Thank you! I have a thing for shooting stuff :D

About the grips, I'm not too worried about it. I fixed it and added a Pachmayr grip ( mistook it for a Tyler on ebay.)

I prefer the Altamont Coke grips but wanted to keep the 10-8 a sleeper. A wilson combat spring kit in in the mail and on it's way.

Here it is my 627 PC.
