I've got a Model 10-6 that is a bit of a beater gun. Its a police turn in that is mechanically very good, but has lots of the usual holster wear.

I was wondering what options I have to improve the sights on this thing, short of mounting a rail on top. I shoot it a lot and would like to be able to stick it into a somewhat concealable holster, so I think any kind of rail is going to be too big. But I'd also like some sights that are a bit easier to use.

Any ideas???? Thanks.

Is it a heavy barrel or a tapered barrel? I believe you will have more options with the heavy barrel because there is more material to work with. I have a heavy barrel model 10 that, this summer, I hope to have a novak cut dove tail milled into and a fiber optic front sight installed.
There are a variety of companies out there doing things with the front sights and it should be possible to go as far as milling the reciever to accept an adjustable sight but that would not be the greatest setup for concealed carry. Most sight mods for the model 10, 13,64,65 etc. tend to consist of a fiber or beaded front sight and opening up the rear sight to make the front easier to see.

Its a heavy barrel. I hadn't thought about having a dovetail cut for a new front sight. That might be be what I need! Thanks!
