Model 10 Snub IWB

Anyone able to recommend a good leather holster for my model 10 snub? I'm a thin guy so prefer IWB and usually carry appendix. I'm looking at the side guard minimal snap. But open to suggestions. Thinking a slight cant might help keep the gun a little lower while making the grip available for a good draw.

On a serious note - although I don't yet own one - I am saving my SBUX money for a Garrett holster. The leather lining would better protect your M10 snub finish ... if that's important. They are pricey but look very nice. Their webpage should come up on the Google ...

Thank you sir. I have a galco one like this for my duty pistol to cover the trigger when it goes into a gear bag when I'm not in the take home. I might have to try one of these. I was considering a Galco or similar but wasn't sure if there was a wonder holster out there that I could spend all my overtime money on.

This the one you speak of?

You just caused me to realized that I don't even have an IWB for
my S&W Model 10 with 2" barrel. Here I go off on another hunt.

I've never appendix-carried a K-frame, but I can say that, in my experience, Side Guard Holsters makes good quality gear. I've carried my 642 in their Quick Clip IWB holster for going on probably 6 years now and it's still going strong.

The last time I carried a 2" 64 it was in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II, carried at 3:30-4:00, and it worked quite well for me, if you want to go that route. I also used a VMII-style IWB holster by another maker (no longer in business, AFAIK) that worked well, though it rode a little high for my tastes (I like the cylinder to be about even with my belt). I should mention that both of those holsters were actually for the 3" 65 I had at the time.

The only size I can find for the Bianchis are for 3" k frames. Will have a little extra at the end of the barrel. If I get one of those I will have to track down a 3" 64 RB to go with the holster one day.....
 
A thin suede clip on works well. Bianchi makes a small K-frame sized holster for a 2.5" K frame - it will likely work but I had mine cut to fit my 2" K frames. Didn't need the extra leather. Barranti Leather makes one, also, but you'll have to wait awhile. I expect mine soon, though; then I can report on it. Elite Survival Systems, the successor to Assault Systems, might still make a nice 2" K frame sized holster in nylon. I know they make an IWB; I just don't know if they make one for a K frame snubbie.

YES!! That is the exact holster I mentioned. Other mfgrs may make something similar, but often they add "bells and whistles" that get in the way. Check 6, partner.

I recommend the TT Gunleather KX Lightweight. A favorite IWB and works great with a K Frame. It's thin, sits deep, and has a good forward cant to minimize printing. I'll post pictures later.
 
once upon a time when I first started to carry revolvers, 19-4 snub, I tried the IWB for it. It did not ride well and would work its way out and in fact did.... to my chagrin in Home Depot. I clattered across the cement floor with people in the isle with me, including the wife. I nonchalantly picked it up and holstered it. That was the last day I ever used and IWB holster for any of my sidearms.

In short I do not recommend you carry a K snub in that fashion.

I've had that happen while sitting on the throne. Fortunately
there were no others in the cubicle to witness the SNAFU.

What holster were you using? Was it made to fit your Model 19?
I've been carrying K-Frames IWB for years, nothing like that has ever happened.

The only thing I can imagine is that your holster didn't fit your revolver very well, and then it collapsed inward on itself (possibly from a lack of reinforcement), squeezing the revolver between your body and your belt and pushing it upward. With a quality holster this seems extremely unlikely.

That is surprising... I could see that happening with a cheap nylon holster, I thought Don Hume was usually of better quality.
 
Been carrying 2&3" k frames in one of those thin suede clip holsters, appendix style, since a former DB partner gave it to me in 1978. Easy to get to, easy to prevent a grab, and never fell out. Always covered by a shirt. After 39 years, it probably needs to be replaced. Maybe.

The old school thin suede holsters, like the Safariland No. 14, are one of the best ways to carry a small revolver. My only complaint is that suede absorbs moisture and this can be a problem for hot weather IWB carry.
 
I use 2 different ones for my j-frame. Pistolwear has a neoprene one that is a holster and belt combo that I have wore while running 3 miles and the pistol stayed put the whole time. Metal was dry, grip was wet because it rides next to the skin, wears very thin and goes under any clothing, can be placed anywhere on the waist.

Other is from holsterama and they offer 2 different grades of leather holster. Went with the cheaper one and wish I had gone for the higher one as the cheap one has the threads sticking out slightly on the inside and snags the back of the cylinder sometimes when worn with a tighter belt.

I am like you and don't have much cheest to push the shirt out to hide appendix carry but have been trying it anyways and it has worked pretty well.
 
Had a 2" Model 64 that I carried up front in a Kramer IWB Clip in cowhide. It's basically a Kramer version of the Bell Charter Oak Chicago Rocker. My guess is, if you called Bell Charter Oak, they would make you one for a K frame.
 
I use this Bianchi cheapie for my 4" Model 12. Works great, and you can spend that OT money on something else.

The nice thing about the Bianchi IWB is the clip hangs on like grim death. I hate wearing a belt, and even with just a jean waistband the holster always stays put.

When I first got my CCW in 1979 my first gun was a 2" M10 RB and carried it everyday in a soft Suede clip-on holster. I never liked the bulk the leather versions added.

After a while (and a few pounds) the M10 became too big for my liking and I sold it and replaced it with a M60. The holsters pictured here are for the M60/36 but the same ones can still be gotten for your M10.

Wow, they must sit pretty low with the clips so high like that.
