About 20 yrs. ago I traded a ruger security six [had two of them] for this. It's been in the safe ever since. There's no model # on it, the serial # under the barrel is c 270xxx. When I joined this forum someone said it was made in '53. Can anyone tell me a little more about it & where can I get original grips for it? Thanks, John

Hi, and welcome. You have a .38 Military & Police, which in 1957 became the model 10. These were standard (you guessed it) military and police issue sidearms from the early 1900s, and a few million civilians also bought them. A fine gun.

The original stocks are called K frame diamond square butt Magnas; they may be for sale on the Forum for sale listings and are commonly found elsewhere also. Fewer were made in nickel than blue finish. Enjoy!

Welcome to the forum.

1953 is about right. It's a .38 Special Military and Police Model, built on the 5 screw frame with the "high-speed" hammer (aka fishhook hammer). The original stocks looked these and would be called "modified (or PC) diamond magna K frame square butt stocks". Quite a mouthful! :)
