Model 1000P serial number

I have a friend that bought a model 1000P, pump 12ga shotgun. The gun is in very good shape, clean bore and has a full choke barrel. What he is wondering is what year the gun was made. The serial number is FB23964. Any help would be great.

The Model 1000P was introduced in 1980. In 1981 the 1000P was renamed the Model 3000 to avoid confusion with the Model 1000 autoloader.
