Hi everyone, I just inherited a Smith model 12-3 4 inch, serial# 362xxx? or 12D717x?. I am not too familiar with this model at all and was wondering if anyone could tell me what the proper grips are for this gun, it does not have the original grips. I know it is a K-frame round butt, but the frame seems narrow compared to most K-frames I've seen. Can anyone tell me what year this gun was made? If anyone has a set of original grips for this gun for sale, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Just kidding,,,,, Looks like 1982 made gun, ANd yes the frame body is a bit slimmer,,, Original grips may be hard to find, but you could remove just a bit of material off the backside of a set of wood grips if you're feeling careful
Square or round butt?
They are nice arent they!

mdf60.......1982 is right. The frame is thinner until they widened it in 1984. Caution...The grips for a regular K frame will not fit your pistol. 12-4 models were the start of the wider frame. Your grips are checkered, walnut, magna style with the diamond and S&W medallion. Don't forget, it has an Aluminum frame. It is a basic "AIRWEIGHT".
