Model 12 picture thread

Nice M12s. "SmithNut", showing yours is just plain cruel! I bet that would cost an arm and a leg. I've been looking for a 2" - 4 RB but I let one get away before I knew better. I've almost aquired a -2 several times but the grip issue give me pause. Guess I should just do it, Again, great guns!

Thanks for the help. Nice to find out it is older than me. lol

To those of you that have fit standard K-frame grips to a -3 or older M12, what is involved in the procedure?

It is relatively simple. You need to remove wood from the back of the grip panel. NOT IN THE HORN AREA OF THE GRIP PANELS. Take some fairly aggressive grit sandpaper and lay a sheet on a FLAT surface. Take a standard K grip panel and lay the back flat on the sandpaper an sand it back and forth. Fit it to the frame for every 5-6 strokes on the paper. When the horn of the grip is flat on the frame, you start on the other side. I think it's like .015 each side.

Used to go on long walks in the desert with me; first two chambers loaded with snake shot for rattlers and such, remaining chambers loaded for coyotes (two and four footed variaties).

I had a similar one available to me in the arms room in Panama.

Peace,

saw one at local shop with 98% finish with a tiny bit of surface rust .flat latch .SB. said he would take $400. I walked its still there. any advice on value?

S&W model 12-2, square butt.
This one had a broken hammer spur, so I "bobbed" it.
