Model 12

I am very happy with this nice model 12 from 1972. Got it from a other collector who stopt collecting. I have the original box with it.
The revolver is in a very good condition.

Congrats to the OP, and both of you guys have very nice model 12's. Mine is also a 2", and in great shape but has some wear on the top of the frame. They are a lot of fun, but the finish on the frame isn't durable at all.

Those are two nice looking examples of Model 12's. Mine is a quite a bit rougher and therefore camera shy. Jim is correct the finish is not very durable. Congratulations, hardcase60

Wikipedia states that the model 12 was produced with 5 or 6 round configuration. That is news to me. Perhaps with the aluminum cylinder it had just 5 rounds.

There is an aluminum cylinder J-frame with 5 shots- very rare!

I believe they built experimentally for the AF around the same as the M13 Aircrewman.

Perhaps it was also produced in .357 Magnum with a steel frame and adjustable sights. But it wasn't then called a Model 12.

Perhaps Wikipedia isn't the place to go for info on S&W models.

That's a nice'n. Usually those aluminum fames get roughed up. I have a four in round butt that is perfect. How do ya'll come by S&Ws over there and are they hard to do the legal work on them? Is it much of a problem?

The photos of your nice Model 12's are so depressing for me to see. I bought one new for $82 in 1974 - I still have the receipt from West Laramie Fly Store in Wyoming. Being mentally challenged, I sold it prolly close to 40 years ago ...

Some great looking model 12's. One of my local shops has a blued 4", 12-3 that looks to be in nearly new condition. If it was a snubby I'd have already bought it. I'm still trying to convince myself that it would go with my 4" M64 and M10-5 which are also the taper barrel models and pick it up. Maybe I need to stop in today and give it another look.

I have a nice 2 incher, as well. I used it as a backup in winter. I had my tailor sew a cheap suede leather holster (the style with a thumb break) in the right front pocket, so it would stay there until I needed it. Of course, I never needed it.

Never needed a fire extinguisher either, but there's one in my kitchen!

Buy it. I love mine. Found it last year and it appears like it has never been shot. (The photo is sort of "washed out". What looks like finish specs is only dust showing up with the flash.)
