"You said the gun comes from the other side of the country. It may be an ex-cop gun from B.C. or Alberta, etc. The RCMP didn't issue this particular S&W variant. Check the gun for any departmental markings, like from Victoria, etc."
Highly unlikely.............
I think the ex-RCMP guy who killed an intruder in Parliament had the smaller version. He was Sergeant-at -Arms of Parliament at the time, and was later appointed to be Ambassador to Ireland. Not surprisingly, he shot the intruder; didn't use his sword, ha!
What's that hero's name? Did he receive a medal?
Kevin Vickers
2015 – Order of New Brunswick for his role in stopping the shooting at Parliament Hill on October 22, 2014
2016 - Star of Courage, along with others, for his role in stopping the shooting on Parliament Hill.
Vickers officially started duties as the Canadian ambassador to Ireland on 21 January 2015, replacing Loyola Hearn.
On May 26, 2016, Vickers engaged a protester who was interrupting a ceremony commemorating British soldiers who were killed in the 1916 Easter Rising, dragging the man to one side before handing him over to Gardaí officers.
Texas Star,
When I said highly unlikely it was due most to the fact that the subject revolver (Model 13) is a 357 Magnum. I've never seen a P.D. issued 357 up here, only revolvers chambered in .38 Special.
Why? Are Canadian cop guns routinely destroyed? We know now that this gun was bought by a RCMP member. Could he have carried it on duty, had the Force not gone to auto pistols? At that time, the issued RCMP revolver was the Model 10 with five-inch barrel. Detectives had smaller snubs.
BTW, I think CBroadArrow is in error about the 9mm adopted. I think it's a DA-only version, not the Model 5906. And I believe that plainclothes personnel have a smaller version used 59
Anyone sure about this?

Did the OPP use 28's? Or was their standard issue the 10?
If my memory serves me correctly, the RCMP used the model 5953 and plainclothes the 3953
$300 US?? That's like $2,768 in Canadian AAAA!?
