Model 14-4 6" Date of Mfg?

Hello, I'm helping a friend by cleaning up his S&W Model 14-4 in 38 Spl with what looks to be a 6" barrel. Serial number on bottom of grip is 85K9097. Can anyone tell me approximately when this pistol was manufactured? Thanks in advance!

SCSW says 57K001 - 91K6800 for 1980. Quite a wide range for that year. Your model 14 looks to be in really nice condition.

85K numbers were used in 1980.

Thank you both for the information; and yes, the gun does appear to be in quite good condition. My friend who owns it is a very successful, but also very busy, attorney who doesn't really shoot or hunt very much. He told me that he bought it in the early 1980's shortly after graduating law school and finally having some money to spend.
