I won the below item in an auction last weekend for $450. It is better looking than the pictures make it look. It does not appear to have been fired. There is some muzzle wear and a little on the cylinder. I would have guessed it was a "sock drawer" gun, except for the chip in the right stock.

I have not seen many 15-1s out there, but I have seen a number of posts here about them.

First off - congratulations on the M15 - one of the best S&W ever made! Over all, descent shape but grips need a little repair work. Those original Diamonds are probably worth fixin' up.

Secondly, every Revolver is fired - - they are test fired prior to being shipped. Your gun shows a descent amount of muzzle wear indicating that it was holstered quite a bit. Most likely belonged to a Policeman or security guard and many didn't shoot their Revolvers other than for qualification purposes so it might not have all that many rounds through it.

Shoot it well and in good health!

Even if you weren't wearing a mask when you bought it for that price, you'll need to wear one whenever you carry it now… that was a steal!.

Although you regard it as unfired, with the wear you mention, it certainly deserves some serious range time. You are going to love it (and if you don't, the line to buy it from you forms right behind me!)

I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't fired AFTER the tests. It will definitely be shot. I am a big fan of the Model 15s and have several others.

Thanks all, for your comments.

Darned nice revolver and you got a GREAT Deal on the price!
I'd give it a good "total" cleaning and lube and then make a range trip.
You'll enjoy owning/shooting that one!

A very light cleaning of the bluing with Flitz and a coat of Ren Wax will make it look it's best. Always use flitz sparingly and only on factory bluing. You can even use the RenWax on the grips. My 15-3 from 1974. Bought used also but not nearly the deal you got.
