model 15 help please?

i didn't mess with the model 15 today. i had chores.
but i thot i'd tell you guys that like irons what happened this morn.
at 6:30 i saw evil bunnies outside.
i took my 22/45 with burris fast fire mounted, opened the door n shot one at 40 yards !!!
this was the longest shot at game i ever tried. also, the longest shot i'd ever been offered.
i don't get long shots here.
this is the 6th bunny in a row with no misses.
that's what a red dot can do.
i used to think you needed a rifle for shots like that.

I HAVE A TARGET GUN!!
at 25 yards,
pretty much every ammo gave me a 2'' group or under.
magtech wad cutter gave me 1 1/4'' not counting a flier.
the bushnel red dot works great. it has the same 3 moa dot i'm used to.
i can't recommend it yet. i gotta see if it holds zero for a long time.

i shot under 50 rounds n it near killed me. i'm not strong enow for centerfire.
no pics because i was too tired.

38 ammo sucks. they need to learn from 22lr.
every single brand has a different POI.
i'll have to stay with one brand or sight in every time i shoot.

when i buy 22lr sv, it all goes around 1070 fps n every brand hits the same place

today's score:
model 15 with bushnel dot-- A+
shooter --B-
ammo--D-

hey, guys. does anyone have both a K frame n a N frame?
i can't find measurements anywhere.
see, the fast draw holster i want comes in N frame too, n i'd just have to cut a little leather to fit the bushnel.
but my mount fits on top of the backstrap, i think it's called?
over the cylinder.
anyway, to the K frame, this adds about 9/16 of hight,
can i jam this in a N frame holster?
i don't mind soaking the leather if it's close enow to force it in.

Suzie,

Your PM box is full.

I have an N and K frame Smiths. Some holsters are interchangeable, some not. Take a look at the Safariland Model 002 which Midway is selling for $60 with free shipping.

A Dillon Square Deal B can be bought used on eBay, or you can buy new from Dillon. Lifetime warranty covers the press whether you are the original buyer or not.

Bulk powder can be bought from Powder Valley or Loehmann. I suggest you try Gunbot.org if you don't have a Cabela's or similar within reasonable driving distance. An 8 pound keg of Bullseye or WW231 should last you about 18000 rounds. I usually get at least 10 reloads out of 38 Special brass ... nickled cases don't last as long.

If you get a Dillon, you will only need a scale to verify the powder charge, and a tumbler. Anticipate that you could produce 300 rounds an hour once you are comfortable with the press.

thanks, ed. i fixed the box.
must powder be weighed?
i think a measuring spoon would be faster.
um, what i was asking is how much bigger is the N frame?
my k frame plus mount is 1/2'' bigger than a K frame.

Yes, powder should be massed. However, once you adjust the cavity of the powder reservoir on a progressive press, you are set. Lee Loaders provide a scoop, but the volume can vary between powder types.

How do you mean bigger? I would suggest when you are looking at a holster, look at a Kydex paddle. These typically are open near the top strap and retain the barrel and lower frame, portions of the cylinder, and cover the trigger guard. There should be no interference with the mount for your red dot.

My K frame has about an eighth of an inch wobble in an N frame holster.

must cases be washed?
i got no room for lots of stuff.

the clamp on mount i got from lee is 1/2'' tall.
i prefer a quick draw holster for snakes.
i've been carrying my 22s but i love the 38spc shot shells,
so i'd like to carry the m15.
so, i need 1 keg powder, 18,000 primers n the loader.
can i get by with that?
i guess i should get 1000 clean cases to start.
i prefer not to wash them .

Wait! Don't wash those cases. Get a tumbler with either corncob, crushed walnut, or rice, and tumble your cases about 2 hours. Use the empties that you already have.

Yes, you can get by with that. With the same set up, if you get the empty CCI shotshell casings and some 7.5 or 8 shot, you can make your own shot shells.

BTW, new Dillon Square Deal B presses are listed on eBay for $390.

k, now i need a tumbler n scale.
i knew this would add up
what happens if i neither tumble or wash?
the press thing is reasonable but you keep adding stuff.

Rule of thumb these days is about $1000 for everything you need to get into reloading. Sorry, it's an addiction.

You can pick up a single stage press, dies,a scale,a set of dippers and a hand priming tool and be in business for a couple hundred bucks. Its not high volume, but with some practice, you'll produce 75-100 rounds an hour.

Suzie,

You can get a new Square Deal B for $380.
You can get a digital scale off Amazon for about $ 30.
You can get a tumbler from Harbor Freight or reloading capable box stores for under $ 50.
Use rice with case polish in the tumbler, and you are good to go.

If you don't clean the cases, the range dirt and powder fouling will scratch your dies a damage them. With clean cases and some TLC, quality cases will last forever.

Figure that the equipment to reload one caliber only will run about $ 450. Once you make this purchase, forget the expense, and focus on what you will save in the finished product. In the event reloading isn't for you, or you stop shooting or upgrade presses, you should be able to recoup close to 80% of your press outlay if you sell it.

Even reloading can be a savings with the rediculously low prices of 9mm Luger ammo. Also, I know it is mental, but I see people's shooting improve when they see what goes into the round they shoot after they start rolling their own. A greater benefit is that you can tailor the load to what your gun likes.

which is easier n faster n least complicated.?
i know you guys thinks this is a fun hobby.
to me, it sounds as fun as scrubbing toilets/

this is not something i wanna do. i'm getting forced into it.
i just can't afford 40 cents/round.
i think this is more of a man thing.

Read the section on Brian Enos' site about which Dillon is right for you. He gives great advice.

Lee hand press and a set of .38 Spl dies will set you back about $50. It's all you need to start. It's what I started on, and I loaded thousands of rounds with little more.

You can use it anywhere, fits in a shoe box, and it as the added advantage of building up your arm muscles thru continuous repetition (it's not hard).

is there any set up where i don't have to weigh powder?
simpler is better.
i'm not gonna wash cases either.
i can't find the brian enos site mentioned. lots of stuff under his name but not a comparison.

Since I'm not sure of this site's policy of posting links to other sites, I sent you a PM with a link directly to Brian's section on "Which Press Should I Buy".
