Model 17-4 values

I just went on a well known sales site, and did a search for Smith and Wesson model 17-4. I could not believe the prices on 8 3/8" guns. They were like 1600 to 2200.00

I know asking and selling prices are different, but I would not think these guns are worth anywhere near that. these are P&R say 1978-80 guns. Am I missing something?

I agree Bobby, but one was 2200, and another 1999.00. Nice shape, but still?

As you said, asking price and sale price are different. I have seen some ambitious asking prices but i generally see them going for 700-1000 depending on condition in accessories. I cant imagine paying anywhere near that, even in todays market.

I watched a couple Model 17 no dash guns bring 1500-1700 with the box.
Last one was over a year ago. I would be curious how they would do now.

I help a guy that has a really nice 17-3 or 4 that gets no interest at the gun shows.

I would love me an 8 3/8 Model 17,a beautiful and uncommon bird. But not at those prices,OMG
