I can’t really find many sold listings of the 3T version of this.
I paid 700 and apparently might get the box if he finds it. Even if I don’t, I think I did ok? Looks like original grips

I’ve got a couple of Model 14’s, one with 8 3/8” barrel full target, and the other is a 6” barrel with Magna’s. They’re from the middle 70’s and both with original boxes and tools. I wouldn’t sell either for $700. Maybe that will answer your question.

Gotcha. What’s the difference between your 14 and my 18? I did some googling and I think the 18-3 was like 1960s?

I apologize, I for some reason read your post as Model 14 and it’s S&W Model 18-3.
Just for comparison, I have several Model 18’s with and without boxes and $700 won’t buy any of my Model 18’s.

A 3T model 18 for under a grand is a steal if in good condition, and a like new in the box would be next level. I have 2, one to shoot and one in the box. I don't know what they are actually worth, but what you paid wouldn't even coax me to pull them out of the safe to show you. Excellent grab!

If in fact the seller comes up with the original box it will confirm if the Target grips are original also. Some of the Model 18’s came with target trigger and target hammer, but had Magna grips. I have 2 original Model 18 boxes that are documented that way. It will be interesting to see what the original box shows provided the seller finds the box.

I recently paid a lot more for mine in what appeared unfired condition. It came with magna stocks and standard trigger and hammer. You got a very good deal.

The finish is not as shiny as the model 17 and that's about all the difference between the two 22's that I know. Both are outstanding shooters for accuracy. I really like the balance in the hand with short or long 8 3/8" barrels. But I'm not sure I've ever seen a 8 3/8" on an 18 though. Sturdy is a description that comes to mind.

Even the beat-up ones can make outstanding donor guns for the .32 crowd who want the cylinder and barrel for reaming/reboring.

Yours looks to be a nice example that should even give your kids years of shooting.

Loyalapostle, I think you did pretty well on that one, especially if the box comes through. Now I'm feeling good about my 1964 18-2 with 3 T's and RR/WO. That configuration does not show up often around here. I'll get a couple pics of it and post separately.

What’s rr/wo?

Bubba, ya done good! :D

I have two model 18-3s and they are my favorite shooters. There's almost always one in my bag when I go to the range.
I give my Model 18s full credit for teaching me how to properly shoot a S&W revolver in double action. :D

Congrats!!! I LOVE THE 22 Combat Masterpiece in all its engineering changes. And you have a beauty. However, I think the cutout grips on your 18-3 may be a little newer than the gun. If I recall correctly (caveating that it has been a long time since I refreshed myself on grip progression), the full cut out on the left side did not occur until after the introduction of the "-4" era... When I get home, I'll check some resources and edit this post if I'm wrong...
