model 18 question

Why does the chambers of my cylinder seem to be undersized? I bought a model 18-4 recently and the rounds go in the cylinder very tight. All are snug, but particularly a couple of them. I thought there might be some build up of crud or lead in them, but I've cleaned them very well, took a bore light to them and the look clean as a whistle. It shoots just fine. I've tried different ammo with the same result, plus the ammo slides right in another 22 revolver I have.

Not sure what to tell ya on that. They load with no resistance on my 18-4. Interested to hear what others have to say.

The theory is tight chambers equal outstanding accuracy.....how's she shoot? It's not an uncommon peculiarity of both the 18 and 17 models.

Shoots just fine. I been on the market for a 17 or 18 for some time. I'm happy with it, I just found it odd for it to be such a tight fit. They eject without a problem though.
Love those k frames.

Not at all unusual. I think you'll find that different brands of ammo fit differently. .22's are notoriously picky about their favorite food.

My Model 17 (no dash) is the same way. I've heard that it's caused by very tight manufacturing tolerances. It is very accurate so I can believe that might be the reason. I've been looking for a Model 18 to continue research on the tolerance theory but they are pretty rare in the used market here in New England.

My 18-3 is not particularly tight. Everything I have tried from bulk ammo to CCI stuff slides in and out easily.
