I recently picked up a very nice Md 19-2, P&R 6" revolver in excellent condition. Love the old school S&W deep blue. Only problem is someone bolted a cheap scope on it and thus it is missing the rear sight.

Price justified the risk, anyone have a lead on a rear sight for an older 6" Md19? Would any sight from a 6" barrel K-frame of the same vintage work?

My fallback is to hunt out a poor condition 6" k-frame of the same vintage, poach the sight and sell the lesser revolver with the scope.

Hello,
I believe I spotted one on eBay a day or two ago. Good luck on your quest. Boy, that scope does nothing for me.......except to say whoa...

Nice lead, thanks. My problem is the ad does not specify the model and my understanding is the proper rear sight needed for a 19-2, 6" is different form one for a 2.5" barrel and also different from more current models.

Send the seller a message and ask what it's from. He has a lot of firearms related stuff for sale. If your not an eBayer, let me know and I'll send him a message.

It may sound silly but have you tried Smith and Wesson yet? If not there is always Gun Parts Corp, Jack First Co. Midway or you could post a WTB ad right here.

Your gun sight should not be hard to find...you have a relatively new revolver which is working in your favor. Someone may have just what you need in a parts bin on their bench as we speak.

Good luck, by the way you bought a fine revolver.

You are 100% correct.
Depending on when your -2 was made, it may have the later -3 rear sight too. If it's lower than K78, it should be the earlier style.

Have fun with the scope mount. I picked one up like that recently and the screws were corroded solid. It wasa a bear getting the mount off.

Scope removed with no problem. I actually look forward to mounting it on something more utilitarian.

The serial number of mine is K777xx so I guess it is the earlier version. Many thanks to the collective genius here, I spend too little time on this forum.

I just order a rear sight for my 19-3 at Brownell part #940000542, might give them a call.

My thanks to all who provided info and special thanks to snw19_357 who has just the part I need. I am once again reminded that gun folk are some of the most helpful, friendly folks anywhere.
