So I have been searching for a 2.5" model 19 for a bit. After carrying the 4" 19 and the j frames, I wanted to split the difference and get something I wanted, something I can EDC in the desert, woods, and around my small town. One firearm to do it all. I love 357/38 so I began my search.

Didn't have much luck locally looking around shops, had some bad experiences on GB, and all of the ones I saw here were so nice and collectors pieces I would have felt bad tearing it up doing what I do. I paid more than I would have if I had come to this realization a few years back, but you can't take it with you and when I want it, I go buy it.

Luck struck and member here had a 19-5 for sale that was a shooter and it was in AZ to boot so I jumped on it and took the three and a half hour drive to the valley.

From picking it up in person I immediately went and dropped it off at Nelson Ford's shop before I headed home so he could give me a nice trigger job and do anything else he needed to do. Then I set about ordering up my preferred K frame CC grip combo... bk grip adapter and altamont classics. Then a nice AIWB holster from Erich over at Side Guard who has done about seven of my revolver holsters now and I am in business.

Here she is fresh from the Doctor with the new grip setup:

I have 135Gr Speer GD Short Barrel for day to day cruising. 158 Gr Deep Curls for when I'm out and about, and some hard hitting 180gr hard cast loads for when I'm up in black bear country. All in 357 flavor. The speed loader holds the 38 +P version.

I can carry her anywhere I need to where I like to travel now and I could not be happier with my purchase and now that she is back, today is a good day. :D

I always thought those 2.5” 19s were tough guns to shoot accurately, but if you’re not needing target pistol-type precision they are a fun challenge. I have one similar to yours. It might be a 19-6. I can’t recall. I need to get it out and shoot it a little. Glad you found just what you were looking for. Congrats on your new .357! :)

I sure plan on having fun practicing :)

I’m glad the 19 went to a good home where it will be used, carried, and cherished. Nelson I’m sure did a great job with it too! Thanks again for the smooth local transaction, stay safe :)

Yeah he said it was in great shape. Tight, good timing. Now the trigger is just a wee bit nicer.

Its a great shooter too... 15 yard samples one handed:

Thank you again! :D

Carried one for years in the 80s; great weekend/ woods carry gun in a Bianchi "Pistol Pocket" .....nothing better .... until I got a 3" 66, Spegel Boot grips carried in a Milt Sparks Summer Special! :)

...and I shoot my 2 1/2" 19-5 more accurately than anything else I own except for a couple of .22's. Go figure!
OP, very nice piece!

I have a 19-4 that I carry sometimes. Mine came with magnas which are too small for me and I put Altamonts on it also. I use 129gr JHP from Federal in 38+P.

My Model 66, stainless cousin of your 19 wearing a pair of Mr. Grashorns pre-war shoes.
The gun has so many miles on it, it should qualify for “frequent flyer” points.
My EDC for years, it has served me well with nary a problem.
Congrats on your purchase!

OP: A really nice set-up, and I really like the grips and grip adaptor together. 2.5 to 4 inch K frames are super revolvers!

Really sharp 19 you got there, and like the holster you got...do you have a link for that too? Thanks for the link to the K-pak strips.
