Model 19 question

My father has a Model 19-5 nickel plate 2.5" .357 round butt that he was curious about. Not sure of how much serial number I can put safely on these forums I will leave 2 numbers out(I think this is the number as this was read to me over the phone).

He was curious about the year made and if at 95%+ condition its approx. worth. He has the original grips. Thanks for any help.

As a -5, it isn’t pinned and recessed, a strike against it value wise. On the plus side: it’s nickel and a 2.5” barrel. My 95% may be much different than yours. WAG value: $700.00.

Probably dates to mid 1980’s, but someone will be along to give you a more precise date.

That's not recognizable a serial number format.

Look on the bottom of the grip frame. You might have to remove the stocks to see it. Will likely begin with three letters and the first one being an "A".

Fitter stamp and assembly number on yoke.

As Kernel stated, serial number will be on the butt of the revolver.

Thank you for the replies. I will let him know about the serial being on the butt. The mid 80's for sure as he said it was around 85/86 when he bought it. Would it having the round butt add to the value? He made a point to say they stopped that in the late 90's? I will post back once I have a number, will try for pics although my father being a bit more antique than the gun itself, having photographs sent through the electronic mail thingamajiger may be a bit much to ask lol.

Would it having the round butt add to the value? He made a point to say they stopped that in the late 90's? lol.

The round butt came with the 2 1/2” barrel, so whatever value the round butt adds is part of the 2 1/2” barrel premium.

why are you worrying about value on your dads gun ?
Its your Dads gun,, there is no way to put a dollar amount on that.
My Grandfather raised me, and shortly after he died, my *** crack head cousin stole and hocked all his guns while I was in Iraq... would kill to have just one of those small 32 top breaks....
I just dont get the fascination with
"whats it worth ?"

quick update: # ACB70xx.

I don't specifically see an ACB serial prefix in the SCSW 4th but my guess is that it has to be from between 1981 and 1983.

That serial number prefix was in common use during...

May of 1983.

Ty for all your replies! As far as the value of my "Dad's" gun, he was the one asking me to look into it as he was thinking about selling. Of course I would love to have it, but at this point I couldn't afford it and he needed the extra bucks as he is retired and just bought himself a new f150 lol.

Sorry to give ya the wrong impression.(see above)
I am though lucky enough to own 3 of his classics. A muzzleloader rifle he had on the wall for years which is now above my television along with a muzzle loader pistol, and on another wall I have an old 20 gauge wingmaster my brother and I both used to shoot as kids.

I wasn't trying to give the impression I was looking to hock my Dad's goodies ;)
