Model 19 snub vs 6906

The target is a B-27 at 25 yards. From a strictly target accuracy point of view, do you want to be holding a two-and-a-half inch model 19, or a S&W model 6906 ? Your choice will be my next NRA/PPC pick in our local matches "off-duty" matches.

I'm a big fan of the 3rd generation S&W pistols. That said, I have yet to shoot a 3rd generation S&W pistol that was as accurate as a model 19.

I have model 19's and 66's that will make me look good at the range. The best shooting S&W 9mm I own is a 3913. The best it will do is around 3".....or a little more at 25 yards. That is shooting 147 grain JHP too. Groups are larger shooting cheap range fodder.

I would go with the 19 snub and not look back. And I really like the 6906's. Good luck with your decision! Regards 18DAI.

Well, I have a 3904 which I would suppose to be tactically identical to a 6906 although it has a longer barrel by about 1/2 an inch. I used to have real problems getting her to shoot well (I have to reload everything as it's a prohibited caliber here) until I got the Saeco 140 grain SWC mould. Now she shoots really nice and a 140 grain SWC at 1,075 fps gives good power too.

All that said and done, a good friend here has a nice nickled Model 19 2.5 incher (also a prohib coincidently, does nobody respect the law around here? I guess not.). There is no way in any reality I know of that I could outgroup myself using the 3904 against the Model 19 2.5 incher. I could come close, close enough to impress the Peanut Gallery I suppose, but I could not beat myself. I've already tried this little stunt on exactly the same type of target at exactly the same distance.

So my vote would also be for the revolver and as 18DAI said "I would not look back". Good luck with what you choose.

I find the 2.5" K-frames to be consistently accurate beyond my expectations.

I'd go with the 2.5" Model 19 snub in a heart beat.
