I have a Model 19-3 4" blued and pinned revolver with a target trigger and hammer and a matt blued finish. I have smaller hands and don't care for the larger target trigger and hammer or finish. I would like to replace them with a standard smooth combat trigger and standard hammer and reblue it. And I better off trading it or do you know who I should have do it.

I'd just have them swapped out. Funny, most guys want to go the other way. Standard hammers and triggers are easy enough to find and a lot cheaper than the target ones. You can keep the originals so it can be restored to original condition, or if you sell them you could probably pay for most of the cost of conversion.

I agree. I've changed out several of my standard riggers and hammers to the target style and have most of those original ones in a box. BUT they unfortunately are from stainless steel S&Ws so they wouldn't look right on your Model 19.

When you include a "refinish" along with probably $100 - $150 for new hammer & trigger, you will most likely have an additional $400 - $500 in your gun. Think, would it be much easier to put that amount along with your gun trade and get what you want, and possibly have money left over. Then your gun stays "original" for some other S&W aficionado to acquire.

Stocks are easy. I think all 19s came with TT and TH so even another gun would need those swapped. Parts are easy to find. If you want a shiny new gun then find one and buy it. A refinish is a big financial loser.
I find it odd that you say it is a Matt blue now.

All 19/66's did not come with TT and TH. I don't recall ever seeing one with a matte finish either. I'd swap him a renickeled 19-2 with regular trigger and hammer and aftermarket grips.

epj is right - target hammers and triggers were options along with red ramp and white outline sights. And every blued Model 19 I've owned or seen bore a deep, bright blue finish.

This one is blued with a case hardened trigger and hammer.
You may want to recalculate judging by the hammer and trigger.
I agree, someone refinished Hammergun's 19.

Is it me, or do they look like spray paint lines on the trigger? That, plus the flat black on the hammer and trigger lead me to suspect a Rustoleum refinish.

When I was buying my 4" Model 19 back in 1974, my local gun shop was unable to find one with the target trigger and hammer. After about two months, I started calling big-city dealers and found one at Locke's Philadelphia Gun Exchange. My wife and I drove there on a Friday evening and picked it up. At that time, all 19s except the 2-1/2" ones came with target stocks.

By the way I found and bought a lovely 19-3 with deep blue gloss finish and standard trigger and hammer that was custom tuned on GI and then sold my matte finished one with target trigger and hammer here. So it all worked out for me. Thanks for all of your input.
