Model 19

PPS: EXPECT THIS THREAD TO BE MOVED SOON TO THE GUNSMITHING SECTION on this site.

It is in that spot that the gunsmiths lurk!

Enjoy your Model 19 . . . your problems are minor and it should be humming along without issues soon . . . for another 100 years or so!

I currently own only one M19, a model 19-5 in nickle plate. Sweet guns . . .

PS: DATE YOUR SMITH HERE! Post the serial number of your M19 (shown on the heel of the gun's butt). However, for the last two or three numbers, substitute these numbers with xxx.

Kind folks here will look up the date range when your gun was made! (Mine above was made in 1982!)

This place can be addicting!!!

Sorry....I just wanted to see this 19 posted again.....:) Zebulon

I recently bought a model 19-5 here, great trigger pull and accuracy. I had occasional misfires, maybe 1 out of 100, and putting a heavier spring in did not help. The primer indents were deep/normal ont he 99 and light on the 1 (if all of yours are light, that would be a spring force or firing pin problem). I found that the hammer was hitting some rough machining marks on the frame side of the lock works. I dressed those down and bingo. Now it will run at even lighter spring weights. enjoy.

I went to the range today and it functioned flawlessly. No misfires. Looks like a really accurate load out of it for me is the Speer GD 158 gr 357 mag. I must say these are quite loud and kick like a mule, but they seem to work quite well out of this platform. As somebody used to shooting a snub 357, that 4" barrel puts a whole new meaning on the word "hot." I have to say though that I really like this gun. It is a beautiful piece of equipment, the accuracy is amazing, and the power it can harness is impressive.
