Discontinued...But not rare. I have ownd one for several years, Works perfect.....Just shoots high with my loads........A taller front sight and it would be perfect. As to price i would guess around $600 for a plain blue one...Give or take.
Interesting that the Blue Book and SCSW only list the Thunder Ranch branded version in the 2004-2006 re-introduction of this gun? I have seen both non-TR logo blue and nickel versions for sale?What were the correct original grips for these?

Here is one of the last ones when they were discontined. It came with these grips shown. Others came with diamond retro grips.
These sold out at 569.00 shipped. I have owned three of these.
Very nice guns. I could never figure why these did not sell better.

If you're buying one of these, take the time to inspect it thoroughly.
I ordered a new one back in the day.
As it arrived it had:
*Canted barrel.
*Angled barrel extension with .020" B/C gap.
*Front sight not pinned tight to the barrel, wobbled fore and aft.
*Under the stocks, one side of the butt was raw forged metal where the blank was too small to be completely surfaced in the CNC machine.
*And, as mentioned above, front sight is too low, so plan on replacing it.
After 2 trips back to S&W this dog was still not to my satisfaction.
Traded it straight across for a nice 4" 29-3 at a LGS.
