Ihave an old 2206 with a red dot sight that shoots like a champ. Unlike the 22A1 Talo it takes anything you put in it. Any info on this gun would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
The 2206 was made from 1990 to 1996 (standard catalog).
They came with either 4 ½” or 6” barrel, also a target version which is easily distinguished, I’m lucky to have one of each. You’re not wrong they will shot anything you put in them.
An underrated pistol if your ask me, give me a 2206 any day over a 22A.
Cheers

Mornin' OldCocker! If you post the serial number, I can look it up and tell you when the ship date was.
I have a 4". It shoots better than I do. Very accurate. Likes CCI standard velocity, but didn't have any problems
with MiniMags or Federal Champion.
I haven't taken mine down for cleaning by myself yet, but watched my sweety do it, and it does not look overly complicated.

By the way, is it a 6" barrel or a 4" barrel? (The 6" version is on my "most wanted" list :D )

Isis I didn't know there was a way to determine age (ship date)other than with factory. Where is that info? Isn't it true you can tell the mfg. date from the code on the box label if you have it? First digit is last digit of year and next three are day of the year? Thanks.

Welcome Old Cocker.

The box label for this model should have a date code on it.
I didn’t pay too much attention when I read about it, I believe you are correct 3 digits for the day of the year and 2 for the year.

The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson has serial number/date information (manufacture).
Bearing in mind that age and ship date are 2 different dates and can be many years apart.
