I have a 22a-1 that is broke. With the barrel removed part of the frame just in front of the rear barrel latch is broken completely off. Is this a common problem with this pistol? Is this repairable or?????
Jim my daughter's father-in-law has had 3 of those in the last year.I know people are going to say it is him but I can tell you that's not true.Smith just keeps replacing them with no questions asked, which I guess is as it should be but I can't help but think there is an issue with that model. The last one didn't even last 500 rounds.I am not a Smith basher and have never had any issues with any Smith I've ever owned.I am at a loss.

It's not him.Mine's on the way to Maine for repair. Upper barrel assembly snapped at rear sight mount point.
Maybe upper barrel assembly should be stainless instead of aluminum?
Looks like a lot of stress is focused at the rear sight mount point
especially during barrel removal . - JP
