Model 23 .38-44 value

See if your dealer will do a layaway. I bought a lot of guns on layaway terms over the years.
It's well worth the asking price. If you pass, let one of us know. Good luck.

Good suggestion but I believe this is a Private Party newspaper type ad.

If so it should sell quickly if its a middle class type area.

What you don't want to do regardless of your current financial position is look back with regret. If you can flat out just walk away or pass on your information onto someone in a better position fine. I'm still kicking myself for not buying Microsoft at $17, passing on a '67 Corvette roadster I helped restore at $10K, and a super prime Winchester model 1885 about five years ago in 40-82 with set triggers, dies, brass, everything for $2K. I should have taken out a second mortgage on the Corvette as well as the Microsoft...hindsight is 20-20.
I never had the cajones to challenge the family debt when it came to what I considered investments. Good for you if you can walk away, its probably the adult thing to do.

I Don't know where this gun ended up But I hope that you and the other party are both happy. Furthermore Kudos to you for your maturity and taking the High Road.

funds

Back in the old days as a fairly young Airman my go to place for funds was the Credit Union. They had short term Signature loans. When my '55 Chevy needed a engine transplant, $100 junkyard engine, Just arrived at new base needed transportation $3300 for a 75 Dodge Charger, All Short Term Signature loans. Way better than the downtown Load Sharks. Made some rank, built up savings and didn't have to do that anymore.

Little bit of discoloration on right side plate but that won’t bother me

Now I have to go look at mine, it has been on the bottom of the stack for so long I don't remember the vintage.
I got it from a collector who said that when the original owner heard that non-magnum N frames were being discontinued, he dashed out and found this Outdoorsman. Then he had the service department put on red and white sights, target hammer, and target stocks like his Magnums. Not a target trigger, though. Which is OK with me.

I looked, no model number, SN in the S140000 range = 1955.
Interestingly, SN is only on the butt, not the barrel or cylinder.

In spite of the legend of the factory upgrade, it has no service star or date.
