Model 25-2

Received my new old stock model 25 today from a closed gunshop.Handling marks only,the lightest of surface rust from storage and completely non functional.Can't believe it.Hammer can be pushed back and forth independent of the trigger at full cock.Weakly turns the cylinder in DA.I can audibly hear something rattling around under the sideplate.Any ideas? Pistol doesn't even look like it's been fired.

Find a gunsmith that knows S&W revolvers, or contact S&W to send it to one of their gunsmiths.
