Model 25-2

Hello everyone,

I am excited to receive a 25-2 in great condition. I am unsure of the age but the gentleman that had it before me acquired it in 1975 from an estate sale of a colonel.

It has the checkered wood grips, target sights, large spur hammer and large trigger. The barrel is 6.5" and stamped 45 Cal Model 1955 but the model number 25-2 is stamped on the frame. The serial number is S228XXX, stamped on the frame, cylinder and butt of the gun. It is a 3 screw revolver with a strain screw on the gripstrap.

The gentleman stated it hasn't been shot on years but he used to reload 45 Auto Rim and loved shooting it. He gave me a box of 45 Auto Rim brass that he had shot along with 250 rounds of Remington 45 Auto Rim.

The gun is beautiful. He also had a set of smooth target grips that came with it.

Any thoughts on the revolver?

Model 25-2 45s are great guns. Yours was from about 1962 . Should be a great shooter. If you go to using ttrgulat 45 acps do yourself a favor and get some full moonclips and a tool to load and unload them.

Good luck with your new revolver and shoot it often.

If you experience accuracy issues shooting it measure the cylinder hole throats.Most 25-2 have oversized throats from .454" to .459".

I load 45 Auto Rim cases for use in my 45acp revolvers.During the very few times I shoot 45acp ammo I shoot without the moon clips and remove the fired cases with my fingers.

If you don't reload try shooting both jacketed and lead ammo.

I haven't measured the cylinder yet but I will.

And figured I would grab some moon clips since I have plenty of 45 AGO ammo around.

So 1962, that's neat. Love the old revolvers.

Awesome revolvers. I use the polymer 'RIMZ' brand moonclips in mine. Very convenient.

Those with oversized throats that won’t shoot lead very well will frequently shoot ball ammo quite well.

I have the pre 25 and it is the sweetest shooter that I've ever shot. The moon clips are the way to go. As H Richard said get a tool. It will make life easier. Before buying the plastic clips check to see if they will work. They will not work on my pre 25 or M1917.

There is a slight modification (trimming) needed on the RIMZ clips to work on some revolvers. It's covered in their info pamphlet.
After doing that, I use them in my M25-2, a Brazilian M1937 and a M1917.
