Stumbled on to one of these today at the local store. $650. Looked to be in excellent condition including the original wooden grips. Said they had the box too. Lockup was tight, not super tight, but tight. Had red front ramp and white outline rear sight. The serial number is BFE2XXX.

It was blued, but not the matte bluing I've seen in some of the other 25-X posts here on the site. Also, I don't see mention of the 8"+ barrel much either.

Should I be looking for anything special when I go in and look at it again tomorrow?

Your thoughts on their asking price please?

The dash-9's are thought by many to be the best of the best in the line of 25's chambered for the 45 Colt. Last in line before the IL and minus any of the throating problems that plagued some of the earlier efforts. Made in small numbers, I would think the 8 & 3/8 tube would be a good find and that price doesn't sound bad at all, especially as described and with the box and original grips. I have one with a 4" barrel and don't plan on letting it go anytime soon.

I own one. A 25-9, 8.375" barrel. And yes ,the -9 is arguably the strongest and most accurate of the engineering changes,

I paid $650. for mine and IF you are looking to buy a big bore long barreled Smith revolver you cannot go wrong at that price.

I guess so!!! NICE collection. I bet your neighbors don't come knocking on your door in the wee hours of the night after seeing the S&W artillery being laid on out on your backyard table! :D

Gentlemen, thank you for the quick feedback. Any others out there w/ some nuggets of info?

He who waits ...

Ditto ... 25-9 is best in show for .45 Colt S&Ws. I've owned two 4" and one 6". Have only seen one 8 3/8" and the price was twice what I was willing to pay. $650 is a fair price and you may never have another opportunity to own this particular version. If you like it and have the money, then what are you waiting for?

Gents, it is a done deal. Even better than expected. Came with original box, wax paper, tools (still sealed in original plastic bag), owners manual, etc.. Am one happy camper! Thank you for the advice and quick feedback!
