Model 25

You know your stuff steelslaver...it's a dash 5. Both of them are, the other has a longer barrel.

Yes, the 25-5 was continued into the no pin era. Interestingly, that is the one you really want because they have the correct cylinder throats.

Groo here
I carried one at the S.O. for about 4 years.
Shoots real good.
Almost too purdy to get dirty...

I had an early 4" 25-5. Just wondered where it ended up - anybody have serial # N679829? LMK.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I was telling a friend the other day that I have a pair of Model 25's that I never shoot but can't bring myself so sell. They are just too pretty. I just like having them in the safe.

I don't think your alone.
I want one have brass dies and bullets but don't find any available around here.

I have two 25-5s. The 8 3/8" is not pinned and has the red ramp, fixed.
The 6" is pinned. It also has the pinned in front sight blade. Was this a original factory thing or did some previous owner have it milled?

My 25-5 is an earlier pinned barrel with large cylinder throats. Found if I use .454 diameter lead bullets, 8.5 grains of Unique, firm crimp and a large Remington 2-1/2 pistol primer it shoots as well as I can! Initially, my attempt at accurate reloads was disappointing and thought about sending it back to factory for new cylinder with .452 throats. That was gonna be $200 plus shipping and a couple months wait at least. Glad I have spent the money on reloading components, just have to be sure to use larger diameter bullets and keep the speed moderate. I have old model Rugers if I need more horsepower as well as 44 magnums! Gary

45 COLT final by s s, on Flickr
That 1 is a BEAUTY! 4" to boot! I like 45 Colt myself. The only one that appeals to me more, is a 25-7. I have a 25-15 myself. Bob

My 25-5 4" is a favorite of mine! It dates to about 1980 and is not oversized. Barrel is pinned as well. You need to get those 25's out and enjoy them as they were designed. They'll clean up. :D
