Model 27-2 4" P&R

I believe the transition mainly involved the 27 6 inch, more common than the other barrel lengths.
I have never seen a 27 only pinned or recessed, vice versa I have more easily seen the 629-3 with the pinned barrel, the -1 and -2 never seen one.
These are mine, i have owned others, only one blued without red insert, idem the nickel one, all the others with the red insert sight.

Does anyone know the actual dollar amount saved per gun by eliminating P&R features. are we talking cents or dollars? I get that it required extra machines that had to be maintained but c’mon, it couldn’t be that much. Charging an extra $5 would not have impacted sales. Even in late 70s early 80s. My mother used to give me 5 bucks and send me to the arcade.

When I was on the hunt for one,
it had to be blue. I haven't ever seen actual numbers of how many
blue were made as opposed to nickel, but it seems the
nickel guns are seen more frequently.

This one is N755XXX, bought it from a "sweaty handed dentist" 15 years ago in a crumpled paper sandwich bag. Don't ask how I remember such things; I can't remember lunch but the exact details of things that happened 20 years ago are crystal clear. Joe

I have seen more than a few 4" unpinned barrel, recessed cylinder 27-2s. As with other Magnum transitional revolvers (K and N frame), they seemed to have a surplus of older style cylinders to make into new guns.

My experience in Italy is not even remotely comparable to yours, the amount of revolvers that go around here is ridiculous compared the numbers in your country. Here there are many 6 inches to be used on the range, people who can walk around armed, so revolvers with shorter barrels preferable in concealed carry, the only permitted, are much less. Therefore the percentage of transition models is very low for short barrels.
