Model 27-2 barrel lengths - pic attached!

Hi gang -

I remember a fellow member was inquiring about the M27 barrel lengths and which one were the most appealing visually. I recently added a 5 inch to the collection, and while I am still missing the 4 inch specimen to complete the full barrel length set, I wanted to attach here and let folks compare the various barrel lengths side-by-side. I cannot pick 'the best looking' but if someone can - feel free to share your choice!

A side note on the stocks - the 6 and 6.5 inch came with the SN matching Magnas on the pic - both are late 1960s / early 1970s guns. And if anyone wondered further, the wooden presentation boxes from the 1970s do not accomodate the magna stocks well (too big for them) - they were built for the target stocks...don't ask me how I figured this out but lets just say that now I am on a lookout for 6.5 inch M29 to fill up that presentation box I have...

Just my opinion, but maybe when S&W standardized N-frame barrel lengths they should have gone with 3 1/2", 5", 6 1/2", and 8 3/8".

Pretty gun, for sure - thanks for sharing! IMHO the 4" emphasizes the tapered barrel of the M27 the most.
