Model 27-2 Value

I don't know what yours is worth, BUT...my local dealer has what I believe to be an unfired 3 1/2" Model 27-2, with the box that they have tagged at almost $1800.00.

I haven't looked at it closely, too rich for me, but it does not appear to even have a turn line as best I can tell under glass. I don't know if the box has the papers and tools, but the box looks like old new stock to me.

I think that's a high price, and I think they think it's a high price, but then they only got one of them.

I don't care about box and docs. Not a collector in the sense of buying a gun to throw in the safe etc, I want a gun to shoot but also want a nice looking gun. I know guns can look nice even if shot a lot IF not abused. I carried a 19 for 10 years under a sport coat. Put 50,000 rounds through it. I also used it teaching LE firearms.it looks really good for a gun that's been through that. I always cleaned it and wiped it off after handling but didn't baby it,

I did not look at the thread date until I saw somebody suggesting a LNIB nickel 27-2 was worth $800.

My old 5 inch doesn't have the original grips, a box, or anything else, but more and more, the $350 I paid for it seems to be well worth it.

It's funny the dealer I bought it from told me he was buying them up 4-5 years ago for around $600. He said almost over night good quality Smiths dried up. My guess is these will be close to $2000 4-5 years from now.

I believe that. I don't see anything the past 6 months.

Just got my fathers 27-2 out of the safe tonight while looking at other wheel guns. It's slightly used but in very nice shape. No papers. I am astonished at the values these days. Back into the safe it goes for my sons one day. A gift from their grandfather.

Rather than start a new thread thought I'd bump this one. Come across a 27-2 nickel 5 inch with box tools and papers. Emailed the seller who has is listed for $1100 and is pretty firm. Think he might come down to a $1000 but that still seems a bit high IMO. Gun looks 99% and in very good condition. I'd like to pay around $800 but he won't come close to that. Is $1000 a fair price, or a bit on the high side?

I PAID $750 FOR MY S&W MODEL 27-2 NICKEL WITH 5" BARREL AND WAS GLAD TO FIND IT! 98% AND THE WOOD WAS PERFECT!!

My LGS has two model 27-2 blue one a 6 inch and one 8 3/8 right now. He has them both priced at $1350 no box or tools with either both are about 98% and he will not come down one cent.

I'm looking at a blued 5" 27-2 here in Canada for $1500 canadian (about 1125 USD) No box or papers but looks to be in very nice shape. That seemed high to me but after reading this thread I'm not so sure.....any thoughts?

I have an acquaintance who wants my Colt New Frontier .22 and $750 cash for his Model 27-2 in five inch nickel. Looks immaculate, what should I do?
