Hi guys,
Brand newbe here.
Wanting to find out the year of manufacture of
My Model 27-2.
I figured I'd start a new thread since these threads are a bit of a maze and I'd have to search around for a year number.
Thanks for any help.

In order to estimate the age of your 27-2, all or part of the serial number needs to be posted, including the S or N prefix.

Welcome to the FORUM from Michigan! Don't have a 27 at all. Have a 28 no dash, 6" from 1960. {plain Jane 27} It serves me well though! Bob

Welcome to the Forum! Lots of .357 Magnum and Model 27 fans here. We do like pictures, so if you can figure out how to post a couple that would be great. Doc44 (one of our resident experts) has provided you with a manufacture date based on your s/n. You didn't mention your barrel length (3-1/2", 4", 5", 6", 6-1/2", 8-3/8") or whether your revolver is blued or nickel plated. Do you have the original box (or mahogany presentation case) and tools? All these things affect the collectability and value. Many of us feel that the .357 Magnums are S&W's flagship revolvers. Enjoy!

I went a bit nuts on Gunbroker. Got my first 29-2 6.5 Dirty Harry (where it all started I guess) but fancied a model 19, a 27 and a 17 to shoot significantly cheaper ammo.
Got them all a few days ago.
Pretty stoked.
A couple of scratches on the 27, but looks in good shape.
Haven't tried any of them yet.
Stunning looking pieces.
