I own some as well.

I love the carbon steel, 8 shot, model 27s.

There have only been 6 variations of the carbon steel, 8 shot, model 27s so far. Here is one of each of those six variations. These six revolvers remain unfired since leaving the factory. All six are the same serial number with different prefixes.

Value depends on if you are buying or selling. You would have to offer me a suitcase of 100 dollar bills to make me sell any of the 8 shot 27/327/627 revolvers that I own.

However i would not spend that much to buy one. Value of one I am going to buy depends on which one, condition of the firearm and completeness of the package (box, papers, etc). However a fairly clean, fairly complete one will easily top the $1000 mark on the auction sites.
Sweet collection you have.

I can't decide if I love or hate this gun. I just can't make myself shoot it. Too many others to shoot but it does make me a little crazy..

WOW, makes me even less inclined to shoot mine.. Might could see that for a perfect 4", they are more in vogue these days. If a 6.5 sold for that it would sure be a surprise. I know one has been for sale for that price for a long time. Didn't realize it actually sold.

The only thing the 4 inch, dash 7, eight shot, would need to make me want it more than my 5 inch, dash 8, eight shot, would be a gold bead on a Patridge. I am also pretty fond of the target hammer on my dash 8. Obviously not the original stocks. Rarely holstered and regularly shot. #132 of 258 made.

Congrats on being the first post on hating on something as awesome as an 8 shot revolver. you must be a blast at parties.[/quote

I like the idea of 7 or 8 shots. I was looking at the 357 Redhawk 8 shots. I have the Redhawk in 357/6 shots. It's a beast.

Crazy money for a late model production smith and Wesson but I I guess I am an accumulator and not really a collector. To each his own .

Congratulations on the new Family Member

These 8 shot, 357 Magnum Model 27/327/627 revolvers are all great shooters. I am sure you will love yours

Thank you, I'm looking forward to shooting it.

What are the m27-2, 6" barrels worth now.? I have new smiths still upshot. Don't plan on shooting them. I shoot my RedHawks.

First post here and been lurking for a while. I closed the deal today at my LGS for a Model 27-7. It's my first revolver and I pick it up next week (waiting period). I don't think they really knew what it was as the purchase price was $650, no box and in good shape. I will post some pics when I take possession.

Welcome to the forum and double congrats. One for finding a -7 and the other for the price. Post pics when you can but until then, what barrel length? Based on the length (4" & 6.5") the serial # will begin with BAG (4") or BNG for the 6.5".
ETA:
Only produced 100 per different barrel length.
Dunno where you bought it but can assure you they didn't know what they had.
