Model 27 and 29 safe queens... Price check

I have two revolvers that I'm going to be parting with so that I can buy more Smith revolvers! I'll either be posting these in the forums here or on GunBroker.. I'm wondering what you experts think these are worth or what you would ask for them if you were selling. I'm unsure what to ask or expect for these:

First off is a model 27-2 3.5" (N48xxx) new in the box. This one was made in 1970 and has the matching box with all goodies. It was sold to me as unfired and it looks to be true. A real beauty.

Next is a 4" 29-2 (N644xxx) from mid-late 70's. This was also unfired when I acquired it and I put 25 light cowboy loads through it years ago. It functioned perfectly as expected . Not perfect but darn close.

I was thinking $1250 on the 29 and $1500+ on the 27 but that is a wild guess.

The really sought after handguns on GB almost always start at $.01 and the free market takes over. If you want to ensure maximum exposure, have a 14 day auction. An auction longer than that doesn't seem to attract that much more attention. A recent GB auction on a 27-2, 3 1/2" Blue NIB went for $2225. Setting a moderately high starting price doesn't seem to attract as many bids. Many bids on an item gets my attention, if only for a "look/see". It they're as nice as you say, this should bring the highest dollar.

On Gun Broker you can do an advanced search that will show you what they have actually sold for and that should give you a solid idea of what they are selling for.

I would guess around $ 1,600 on the 27-2 and around $ 1,200 on the 29-2 .I think the 27-2 has the potential to go even alot higher in an auction with two or more guys wanting it . I don't understand why you would want to sell these two , just to turn around and buy more Smiths , when you have two of the best in your hands right now . Are you looking to buy lesser guns ? Whats the deal ,man ? These two are fantastic , investment grade guns that are increasing in value . I would hold tight .

a 1977 6" royal blue unfired Colt Python ? Just joking .I just got the Python a couple months ago and the "new" hasn't wore off yet. Actually, If we were face to face right now I would make that trade . I think the mid 70's royal blue Pythons have leveled off a bit in the $ 2,800 -$ 3,000 range , however, I think the 27-2 has alot of room left .

You must have something very, very special on your shopping list. Your 27 and 29 are spectacular! I sure wouldn't be inclined to sell either of them, especially the 27. But they are yours, not mine.

That 27 is beautiful. I think top dollar right now on the 29 is $1200 without a box or case.

You have a very desirable gun. What "goodies" do you have (tools, paperwork, VCI paper)? You should picture them too for maximum $$$.

Just my personal opinion, but I usually see the nickeled guns like yours selling for at least 10 percent more than a blued gun. I don't know who the seller was on the auction that Blackbarry described. But, there are a few sellers, on the auction sites, that have a "big money" following all their own because of the premium offerings they seem to always have. Believe it or not, this can increase their sale numbers considerably over us "normal" sellers.
