I have just bought a current production blued model 27 classic with a 4" barrel ( still waiting to pick it up from the dealer). The gun has a plain black serrated ramp front sight which I am not too fond of. My friend has a model 29 classic with a red ramp front sight, which I much prefer, and he likes the black ramp so we have agreed to do a swap. Both sights are identical in shape, size and height so my hope is that the roll pins and holes will also be exactly the same. My question is are the sights normally bedded with a glue of some sort like epoxy, araldite, silicone, locktite or some such stuff. What would be standard procedure for a gunsmith do with this.

The roll pin hole in the sight will likely not line up, they would normally be individually drilled (from both sides). You should be able to buy a red ramp sight and install it yourself without too many headaches. I think having a predrilled hole that is a little off would cause bigger headaches.
