From the reference I've got, S95,000 – S102,999…….Late 1953 – Early 1954

Post some photos if you can, we like pictures!

ETA, Your gun is not a M27, it is a "S&W .357 Magnum", aka pre-27. The model numbers didn't start until 1957. If you look in the yoke recess of the frame, the model numbers are stamped there on post '57 guns. Yours, if your serial is correct, probably only has assembly numbers there.

Thanks for that... Due to the laws here in Canada I need to find one made pre-1946...

Question: I'm trying to find a pistol like the S&W Gen. Patton carried. I was always told it was a 3.5 inch Model 27. Would it be correctly identified as a 3.5 inch S&W .357 Magnum? Maybe I've been looking for the wrong thing!

Thanks

The 27's are the descendants of the "S&W .357 Magnum", which in turn is a descendant of the Registered Magnum. I don't know what Patton carried, but I suspect it was a Registered Magnum.... and they are in the stratosphere in terms of collecting.

Just found this: General Patton's Pistols - Colt 45 and SW 357
