model 27 no dash date

I happen to have 3 1/2 barreled model 27 with a serial #S 199963 that i would like to find the shipping date. The book was a little vague as to the date ,Any help will be appreciated.FINALLY A PICTURE

S199255, also a Model 27, shipped in November, 1961. Likely yours is close to that, on one side or the other.

Published information suggests a 1959 production date, but for the ship date a letter of authenticity is needed. Possibly 1959, maybe 1960, or ?

Shipping dates in that era are all over the place. Probably the best we can do without a letter is 1960/61.



Model 27 serial S198125 shipped in November 1960.

Also NOT at 3.5",, but still a no-dash 5". The 4th Ed. puts it in my birth-year. Close enough for me,,,

Never sent for a factory letter on anything,,yet. I guess I always equate it to a "date on a title". A 1970 Superbird is always a 1970. Even if it did not sell until late '71. Heresy to some but I remain in the silent majority?? I'd certainly pop for a letter if I suspected some historical significance or prestigious ownership.

Good information above. I don't need to know exact years bad enough to pay for letters but it is interesting to know. I'm now assuming my S187XXX 6" and S188XXX 3-1/2" were late '50 guns and my -2 (N830XXX) 4" much later. Learn something most every time I check out this forum, which for the past several years has been daily. Cool.
